New TZ Merchandise Available Now!

After my severely depressing post the other day, I thought I’d brighten things up a bit by mentioning new TZ merchandise that’s now available and in stock at Entertainment Earth….
The Twilight Zone Henry Bemis Bobble Head
Henry Bemis bobblehead ($12.99 plus shipping)
Icons of The Twilight Zone Bobble Head Revisited

The Twilight Zone Kanamit Cookbook Journal
Kanamit Cookbook Journal ($9.99 plus shipping)

I’m ordering all three on Friday (payday), and I’ll be spotlighting each of ‘em in a couple of weeks.  But you don’t need my opinion to make up your minds, right?  Click on the links above and place your orders!  Order ‘em before you miss out…. Like I did, on this particular item:

The Twilight Zone Kanamit's Cookbook Set - SDCC Exclusive
Kanamit's Cookbook Set - SDCC Exclusive (sold out)

I’m kicking myself for not ordering this as soon as it became available.  Yeah, I’ve got the original Kanamit, but now I’ll never be able to reenact the shot in which the two salute one another in the airport, just moments before the true meaning of “To Serve Man” is revealed...

New TZ Bobbleheads Available for Pre-Order!

Our pals over at Bif Bang Pow! have revealed two more Twilight Zone bobbleheads, both scheduled for release in July.  One is brand new, and the other is a very welcome update.  Read on....

Everyone's favorite bookworm-slash-last-man-on-earth is brought to tragic life in the Henry Bemis bobblehead.  The Burgess Meredith likeness is pretty good, and check out those broken glasses!  He's seated on a stack of books on the library steps, right where we left him at the end of season one's "Time Enough at Last."  $12.99 and he's yours, right here.

Next up is Icons of The Twilight Zone Revisited.  The first Icons bobblehead (pic below) was a San Diego Comic Con exclusive last year, and it sold out pretty fast (I was fortunate to get one; see my review here).  It was a frankly stunning piece, and the revised version looks to be just as amazing.  The spiral and the flying saucer have been replaced by the shattering window and the mannequin, which means that this version is entirely season four/five specific (note also that the clock has been augmented with a bell on top; however, it's still 2:00).  It also appears that they've enhanced the base with some front-side support (the first version tends to tip forward).  Anyway, this one's thankfully NOT an exclusive, so it should be easy to obtain: a measly $14.99 is all they're asking here.

Version 1.0.

Spotlight: Icons of The Twilight Zone bobblehead (Bif Bang Pow!)

Bif Bang Pow! continues its wonderful line of Twilight Zone bobbleheads with something completely unexpected. I mean, they thought WAY outside of the box on this one. This may be the first bobblehead in history, TZ or otherwise, that's neither a character or a vehicle. It's not an alien, or a robot, or a spaceship, or a Dharma Initiative polar bear, or a TIE Fighter, or Charlie Sheen, or even Jesus. Nope, it's....

...well, what is it, exactly? For guidance, we'll look to the piece's name: Icons of The Twilight Zone: Five Unforgettable Symbols Synonymous with The Twilight Zone.

It's a monolith of sorts, incorporating iconic images from the various opening sequences used throughout the series' five-year run. The central 2-dimensional image is the door from seasons 4-5 ("You unlock this door with the key of imagination..."), surrounded by a starfield. From there, five distinct objects float out in front, three of which bobble on springs.

Clockwise, from... well, the clock:

Bobbling Clock (from seasons 4-5)

Bobbling Spiral (from season 3)

Eyeball (from seasons 4-5)

Bobbling Einstein's Theory of Relativity (from seasons 4-5)

Flying saucer (from several episodes;
most prominently season 3's "To Serve Man")

The eyeball and flying saucer do not bobble; rather, they are held in place by thin dowels, and can be turned to any angle you choose.

The Twilight Zone logo is attractively sculpted on the back of the piece. In fact, the backside looks nice enough to display on its own. Now there's a reason to get two!

Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!

This piece weighs 15.5 ounces; however, it seems all the weight lies at the front, which makes it extremely prone to falling forward. I'd suggest slipping something thin under the front edge to balance it out. I'm planning to stick a few rubber self-adhesive bumper feet under mine:

Balance issue aside, this is a frankly gorgeous piece. A Comic-Con exclusive, this particular item is ALREADY sold out over at Entertainment Earth. You can probably find one elsewhere (eBay, etc), but if you're at all inclined to track one down, I'd jump on it sooner rather than later. In fact, I need to find myself a backup... just in case.

Dali print not included.

TZ News Flash: Icons of The Twilight Zone bobblehead announced!

Here's something outta left field. I mean, like way out. But it's brilliant.

Bif Bang Pow! has unveiled an upcoming TZ bobblehead. It's not a recognizable person. It's not an alien, or a monster. It's not a doll, or even a supernatural object. It is indeed a bobblehead, but it doesn't really have a head at all.

Have a look at Bif Bang Pow!'s Icons of The Twilight Zone bobblehead.

This one celebrates the opening titles sequences used throughout the series' five-year run, particularly the most recognizable one used in seasons four and five. The doorway, the eyeball, the clock, and Einstein's Theory of Relativity are all here. Season three's spiral also makes an appearance. A flying saucer, which was never seen in an opening sequence but nevertheless appeared in many episodes, rounds out the elements. I should also note that three of the elements (okay, "icons") bobble!

This'll be a Comic Con exclusive, but those not attending can also pre-order it through Entertainment Earth.

Gotta have this. It's beautiful!
